CCSE Examination for Spanish Nationality

In accordance with the current regulations, the requirements to obtain Spanish nationality by residence are:

  1. To accredit at least an A2 level of Spanish. For which we recommend our DELE preparation course.
  2. Pass the CCSE test on constitutional and sociocultural knowledge of Spain.

CCSE - General Information

The CCSE exam is aimed at all persons who wish to obtain Spanish Nationality.

What does the CCSE test consist of?

The CCSE test is the test of constitutional and sociocultural knowledge of Spain developed by the Cervantes Institute and is one of the essential requirements for obtaining Spanish nationality.

The content of the exam focuses on the two main blocks of the test:

Government, legislation and citizen participation in Spain (60% of the test).

S panish culture, history and society (40% of the test).

How many questions are on the CCSE exam?

The Spanish nationality exam consists of 25 questions, each with two or three options and only one valid answer. Correct answers receive 1 point; incorrect answers receive 0 points and there is no penalty for incorrect answers.

How long does it last?

The duration of the CCSE exam is 45 minutes. Depending on the exam session you have registered for, your exam may start at 18:00 or 20:00. We recommend that you come to our Spanish language school 30 minutes before the exam starts.

What is the minimum score I must obtain to pass the CCSE test?

To pass the Spanish nationality exam you must have 15 correct answers out of a total of 25, that is to say, you must obtain a score of 60%.

How much does it cost to register for the CCSE test?

The registration fee for the Spanish nationality exam is 85 €.

What to bring on the day of the exam?

It is essential to bring your original passport, otherwise you will not be able to take the exam, as well as your own writing material and protective mask according to the sanitary measures agreed by the Spanish government.

You can register for the Spanish Nationality Examination on the website of the Cervantes Institute here. The exam takes place in our school Malaga Plus located in the Pedregalejo neighborhood.

When will the test scores be available?

The Instituto Cervantes will send you an email with your results about 20 days after the CCSE test.
